The Roaches

A striking gritstone ridge rising to 505 metres with panoramic views across the Staffordshire Moorlands and into Cheshire. The name comes from the French word roches, meaning rocks. Popular with walkers and climbers alike, the circular ridge walk takes around 1.5–2 hours. Just a 15-minute drive from the apartment.

A Perfect Half-Day Out

The lake stretches over 2.5 miles and a full circuit is around 5 miles, a moderate walk of about 2.5 hours. The eastern shore follows the flat, wide old railway trackbed (great for bikes and pushchairs), while the western shore is a quieter path through farmland along the Staffordshire Way.
